Our origin is deeply rooted in our personal journeys as individuals who grew up Deaf, coming from diverse educational and family backgrounds. We have experienced firsthand the impact of language deprivation, both within ourselves and among our family members and peers. As Deaf individuals, we became unintentional language facilitators, bridging the communication gaps for our loved ones.
These experiences fueled our passion to become professional Deaf Interpreters, driven by a shared mission to address the widespread issue of language deprivation in Deaf communities worldwide. The staggering fact that 98% of deaf children in the United States lack access to American Sign Language in K-12 education underscores the urgency of our cause.
With deep roots in the Deaf community, we intimately understand the far-reaching effects of language deprivation. We have witnessed how it hinders human connections for deaf individuals, both children, and adults alike. Our collective experiences have shaped our work across various sectors, from academia to non-profits, private industries, and government.
As we connected and collaborated as Deaf Interpreters, we recognized the crucial role that agencies play in perpetuating this epidemic. It was this realization that brought us together, united in our determination to put an end to language deprivation. We knew that by joining forces, we could redefine the standards of interpreting agencies, delivering true language access and empowerment.
Thus, Rooted Connections was born. Our purpose is to break the mold of traditional interpreting agencies, paving the way for a new era of language access that embraces inclusivity and genuine understanding. Our Vision
We want to redefine the optimal interpreting experience, empowering Deaf and DeafBlind individuals to shape what effective communication means to them. We believe in an equitable approach, where our consumers play an active role in the accommodation process, from start to finish. It is their right to choose to receive Deaf interpreting services whenever and wherever they need language access.

Meet China and Marisa D'Rose
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
China D'Rose
A proud native of Texas and an alumna of the Texas School for the Deaf, China brings a wealth of experience in business development and advocacy.
She holds degrees in Business Administration and Real Estate and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management at Texas State University. Throughout her academic journey, she continues to balance her studies with a deep passion for driving change within the interpreting industry.
For the past 10 years, China has worked across both nonprofit and private sectors, advocating for reforms to improve accessibility and equity within the Deaf community. Her efforts extend beyond interpreting, as she remains committed to addressing financial illiteracy and combating language deprivation among Deaf individuals.
China’s unwavering dedication to creating inclusive spaces and fostering empowerment continues to shape her work and inspire those around her.
Chief Creative Officer (CCO)
Marisa D'Rose
Originally from Eastern Pennsylvania, Marisa holds a degree in Communication Studies from Gallaudet University and thrives in roles that foster connection and advocacy. She is a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) and is currently pursuing her Court Interpreter certification.
Marisa’s journey as an interpreter began at home, serving as a Deaf Interpreter for her family and friends during complex legal and mental health situations. This lifelong experience has shaped her into a skilled professional with over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, supporting individuals with mental and physical disabilities.
In addition to her interpreting work, Marisa remains actively involved in community projects and is passionate about advocacy for senior citizens. She is also deeply engaged in animal rescue and welfare.
Her dedication to accessibility, inclusion, and advocacy continues to drive her personal and professional endeavors.
